AdventHealth Waterman celebrated the expansion of its inpatient rehabilitation unit with a special blessing and dedication ceremony.
During the ceremony, the AdventHealth Waterman Foundation presented a $3 million gift, which provided the necessary funds to grow the unit from 12 beds to 22.
"The Foundation’s work is all about supporting our patients and hospital,” said Mabel Valdivia Diaz, AdventHealth Waterman Foundation executive director. “This gift is a direct investment in the health and well-being of our community. With these additional beds, more patients can get the specialized care they need without leaving the support of their families."

The expanded inpatient rehabilitation unit is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and amenities to support patients in their recovery from a wide range of conditions, including fractures, brain injuries, heart and lung conditions, spinal cord injuries, strokes, amputations, and more.
"The patients we treat are recovering from major, life-changing events,” said Dr. Kami Strong, medical director of AdventHealth Waterman’s inpatient rehabilitation services. “Keeping them close to home, where their families can attend therapy sessions and continue to provide them with needed support, is essential to help them heal and recover.”
With this expansion, AdventHealth now offers 144 inpatient rehabilitation beds across four locations in Florida at AdventHealth Daytona Beach, AdventHealth Tampa, AdventHealth Waterman and AdventHealth Winter Park.
