ASHEVILLE, N.C., — AdventHealth Expands Behavioral Health Care for Adolescents
HENDERSONVILLE, NC, April 3, 2025 – AdventHealth is excited to welcome Shalom Littrell, LCSWA, to its team at AdventHealth Medical Group Psychiatry at Medical Office Building*. Littrell is a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate and will be facilitating AdventHealth Hendersonville’s new Intensive Outpatient Therapy Program (IOP) for adolescents beginning in April 2025.
AdventHealth Hendersonville is proud to continue its commitment to meet the mental health needs of young people in our community. AdventHealth is launching the new IOP for adolescents aged 13 to 18 who are experiencing psychiatric disorders, behavioral issues, or dual diagnoses. In her new role, Littrell will lead therapy groups specifically focused on improving mental health, anxiety and depression in teens and adolescents.
Littrell earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish with a concentration in Recreation Management from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. She then earned her master’s degree in social work from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. She most recently served as a Therapist with Safelight, Hope and Healing for Families in Hendersonville, NC, providing care and support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Littrell offers extensive experience working with children and adolescents in specialized outpatient therapy programs. Her background is in interpersonal violence and helping her clients through complex trauma using a variety of interventions to meet their individual needs. She is trained in cognitive processing therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy, and many more advanced therapy techniques.
“I truly enjoy what I get to do and want to make a difference in the mental health field,” Littrell shares. “My commitment is always to meet individuals where they are at so that they feel heard and seen after spending time with me.”
Littrell was drawn to AdventHealth because of their commitment to their mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ. This matches her own personal care philosophy of supporting and providing individualized care for the whole person – body, mind and spirit. She is committed to meeting each client where they are and working together alongside them to meet their personalized therapy goals.
“It makes me excited to know that I will be working with a team in order to better patients as a whole,” Littrell says. “I believe in the organizations mission and as a patient, I have seen the way the team members care for others and constantly go above and beyond to meet needs. I am excited to be on the other side and have the opportunity to do the same for others.”
As Asheville natives, Littrell and her husband are excited to raise their two young children in Western North Carolina. They enjoy being outside and playing with their two dogs, Rocky and Peyton.
