DELAND, Fla., January 5, 2017 The Florida Hospital DeLand Foundation is seeking nominations for the 10th annual Blue Flame Awards.
The Blue Flame Awards are given to healthcare providers in our community whose service to patients and the community is exemplary, said Maureen Mercho, Florida Hospital DeLand Foundation director. We give the Blue Flame Award, because as the hottest part of the flame, it ignites the rest of the fire. We believe that our recipients do just that in our community.
The 2016 awards honored emergency medicine physician Dr. Stephen S. Knight and Florida Hospital DeLand registered nurse Gloria Denston for their significant contributions to the health and well-being of the community.

Nominations for the 2017 Blue Flame Awards will be accepted until Feb. 15. The winners will be announced on March 15, followed by a dinner ceremony on April 6 at the at the Wayne G. Sanborn Activity Center in DeLand.
