DELAND, Fla., January 18, 2018 The DeLand Knights of Columbus, Council 6274, donated more than 100 teddy bears to Florida Hospital DeLand. The hospital will give these teddy bears, penguins, giraffes and reindeer to children who visit the emergency department.
This donation from the Knights of Columbus will be such a nice gift for the children that come through our ER, said Tonya Trost, Florida Hospital DeLand emergency department director. We care for 56,000 patients each year in our ER, and 11,000 of those patients are under the age of 18. That's a lot of kids! These stuffed animals will go a long way in helping bring cheer and comfort to our youngest patients.
