Francisco Socola, MD, is a board-certified in medical oncology and hematology. After receiving his medical degree from the Cayetano Heredia University in Lima, Peru, Dr. Socola, went on to complete an internal medicine residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, followed by a hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science, Little Rock AR.
Dr. Socola completed a sub-fellowship in bone marrow transplant and cellular therapy (CAR T cell) at Stanford University, after completing his training he worked for 4 years at Tulane University, New Orleans LA, in the department of Malignant Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant, during this time he became an expert in the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes, he also focused his career treating patients with aplastic anemia and myeloproliferative neoplasms (chronic myeloid leukemia, essential thrombocytosis, primary myelofibrosis and polycythemia vera).
His research interests include finding new ways to reduce the relapse rate of acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome before and after allogeneic stem cell transplant. He has a vast experience enrolling patients in clinical trials (experimental drugs) and has published multiple papers. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
