Biography

Clark Kulig, MD enjoys the detective work of liver disease in terms of coming to understand the various contributing causes of liver injury. He also appreciates the behavioral side of hepatology, namely helping patients move through the different stages of behavioral change in order to help preserve and improve their liver function. He finds that by educating patients he can empower them to optimize their liver health and overall quality of life.

Dr. Kulig’s clinical practice includes the treatment liver cancer, liver failure, cirrhosis and hepatitis.

Dr. Kulig received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin and completed his internal medicine residency at Oregon Health Sciences University, in Portland. He then relocated to Denver for a substance abuse fellowship at the Denver VA Medical Center, followed by gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Colorado.

Dr. Kulig served as the Director of Hepatology at the Denver VA Medical Center from 2006-2009 before becoming the Director at the Porter Center for Liver Care at AdventHealth Porter, where he spent the next six years building a successful liver transplant program. In 2015, he was recruited, along with several colleagues, to start the liver transplant program at Presbyterian St. Luke’s. After providing general and transplant hepatology care at PSL for nearly 10 years, Dr. Kulig found his way back to AdventHealth Porter.

Dr. Kulig is highly regarded in the hepatology and liver transplant community, having cared for patients in the Rocky Mountain Region and beyond for more than 18 years. He has consistently been named one of Denver’s “Top Docs” by 5280 Magazine. He is also an active member of the American Liver Foundation.

Personal Interests

In his free time, Dr. Kulig enjoys fishing, hiking and camping with his family and friends.
