Amy Mertens, DO, is an expert cardiologist caring for all ages. Dr. Mertens specializes in treating microvascular angina (small vessel artery disease) and complex coronary artery disease. She especially enjoys providing hope and personalized care for patients who have been told there are no other options for them, including those with chronic total occlusions and bypass turndowns.
Dr. Mertens earned her medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She graduated in the top 10th percentile of her class and was elected to the Sigma Sigma Phi National Osteopathic Medical Honors Society. She completed her internal residency, general cardiology fellowship, interventional cardiology fellowship, and advanced complex and higher-risk fellowship at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital.
Dr. Mertens is board-certified in internal medicine, general cardiology, interventional cardiology, cardiovascular computed tomography, and echocardiography. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. She has several peer-reviewed manuscripts.
