Our Well-Woman Exam Services
A well-woman exam is a preventive checkup designed to monitor and maintain a woman's health. Your primary care provider may refer you to an OB/GYN or specialist for additional testing, but your well-woman visit could include any of the following services.
-
Vitals Exam
A well-woman exam includes a routine assessment of your vitals to monitor signs like blood pressure, heart rate and overall well-being. This helps detect potential health concerns early and ensures your body functions at its best.
-
Breast Exam
A clinical breast exam is performed to check for lumps, changes in breast tissue or other abnormalities that may require further evaluation. If needed, your provider will recommend a screening mammogram based on your age and personal risk factors.
-
Pelvic Exam
A pelvic exam allows your provider to assess the health of your reproductive organs, including the uterus, ovaries and cervix. This exam can help detect conditions like infections, cysts or other concerns that may affect your reproductive health.
-
Pap Smear
A Pap smear is a screening test that checks for abnormal cervical cells, which can indicate early signs of cervical cancer. This quick and simple test is essential for early detection and long-term reproductive health.
-
STD Testing
Testing for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) is an important part of preventive care for sexually active people. Your provider can recommend appropriate tests based on your risk factors and discuss treatment options if needed.
-
Vaccinations
Staying current on recommended vaccines is an important part of preventive health care. Your provider may recommend vaccines such as HPV, flu, or tetanus to protect against infections and serious illnesses.
-
Mental Health Support
Your emotional well-being is just as important as your physical health. During your visit, your provider can discuss stress management, anxiety, depression, and available mental health resources to support your overall wellness.
-
Pregnancy Planning
If you're considering starting a family, a well-woman exam is a great time to discuss pregnancy planning. Your provider can offer preconception counseling, fertility guidance, and recommendations for a healthy pregnancy.
-
Nutrition Counseling
Proper nutrition is key to maintaining overall health and preventing chronic diseases. Your provider can offer guidance on balanced eating habits, weight management, and personalized nutrition plans to support your well-being.

FAQs About Our Well-Woman Exams
-
Q:Question: What’s a well-woman visit versus an annual physical exam?
A:Answer:A well-woman visit is a preventive exam focused on a woman's reproductive and overall health. It includes screenings like a pelvic exam, breast exam, Pap smear (if needed), STD testing, and discussions about birth control, pregnancy planning or menopause. The goal is to monitor and support women's health at every stage of life.
Continue ReadingAn annual physical is a general health checkup that assesses overall well-being, regardless of gender. It typically includes a review of medical history, vital signs (such as blood pressure and heart rate), a physical exam, and routine lab tests to screen for conditions like high cholesterol or diabetes.
While both exams help maintain good health, a well-woman visit focuses on reproductive and women’s health issues. At the same time, an annual physical covers a broader range of health concerns, including lab tests and bloodwork.

Q:Question: What’s the difference between a well-woman exam versus a Pap smear?
A:Answer:A well-woman exam is a comprehensive preventive checkup that focuses on a woman's overall health, including reproductive health, screenings and lifestyle counseling. It typically includes a clinical breast exam, pelvic exam, discussions about birth control or family planning, and screenings for conditions like high blood pressure or osteoporosis.

Q:Question: Does a well-woman exam include mammograms?
A:Answer:No, a well-woman exam does not include a mammogram. However, during your visit, your provider will perform a clinical breast exam to check for any abnormalities. If a mammogram is needed based on your age, risk factors or exam findings, you will receive a referral to an OB/GYN or a specialist for further screening.

Q:Question: What's the difference between a clinical breast exam and a breast cancer screening?
A:Answer:A breast exam is a physical check of the breasts performed by a health care provider to look for lumps, changes in size or shape or other abnormalities. It’s typically included as part of a well-woman exam and can help detect potential concerns early.
Continue ReadingBreast cancer screenings refer to tests specifically designed to detect breast cancer before symptoms appear. The most common screening method is a mammogram, which is an X-ray of the breast used to identify tumors or abnormal tissue. Other screenings, like breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exams or genetic testing, may be recommended based on personal risk factors.
