AdventHealth Celebration PGY1 - Acute Care

AdventHealth Celebration is a non-for-profit, 357 bed state-of-the-art community hospital that serves the residents of Osceola, Orange, Polk and Lake counties as well as patients from all over the world. Established in 1997, AdventHealth Celebration is a prototype for health promotion in a model community designed by Walt Disney. Services are offered to treat and heal but another focus of this facility is to prevent illness and promote good health.

The PGY-1 Pharmacy residency program at AdventHealth Celebration builds on pharmacy education and patient outcomes in order to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacist’s responsibilities of medication-related care of patients. Our campus treats a wide range of patients from all over the world with various disease states which helps to provide our Pharmacy Residents and Pharmacists with experience with treatment of a multitude of disease states as well as the knowledge to help prepare for specialized PGY-2 pharmacy residency training and board certifications.

The acute care PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency program was established at AdventHealth Celebration in 2018 however, our clinical pharmacists have been serving as preceptors and mentors to the ambulatory care focus PGY-1 pharmacy residents since 2002. Our campus is also a clinical teaching site for a number of colleges of pharmacy and medicine as well as nursing schools. AdventHealth Celebration provides resident pharmacists opportunity for direct patient care, as well as the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams in a wide variety of specialties. Our pharmacy team works very closely with providers in a variety of decentralized patient care settings (i.e. emergency department, critical care units, internal medicine floors, oncology unit, etc.). Resident pharmacists will also have the opportunity to staff in the Central Pharmacy and will receive training on how to safely process compounded intravenous and patient specific medications. Upon completion of the acute care PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency program at AdventHealth Celebration, our graduate residents with have developed essential skills to become well-rounded pharmacists ready to work in a variety of inpatient settings.
