Florida Trend, a publication focused on providing business, political, tourism and education news from across the state, named AdventHealth President/CEO Terry Shaw and AdventHealth Central Florida Division President/CEO Daryl Tol to its Florida 500 list. The recognition honors influential executives representing various economic and business sectors throughout Florida.
Shaw and Tol, who were selected in the Life Sciences category made up entirely of health care leaders, have been central figures in AdventHealth’s innovation, growth and expansion both statewide and nationally. They have also been at the forefront of the organization’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, in which AdventHealth has leveraged leading-edge treatment and technology to care for patients and also served in key advisory roles with government and business leaders.
With nearly 50 hospitals in nine states, hundreds of other care sites and more than 80,000 team members, AdventHealth is one of the largest faith-based health systems in the United States and the largest health system headquartered in Florida.
This year marks the third edition of the Florida 500. Those making the list were selected across more than 60 business categories. Florida Trend chose the honorees based on extensive contacts in regional business circles, hundreds of interviews and months of research. In a letter to readers, Florida Trend Publisher David Denor noted the scale and influence of Florida’s business ecosystem while commending Florida 500 honorees for their efforts.
“In many respects, Florida is a nation of its own — with a population nearing 22 million and a gross domestic product exceeding $1 trillion. If it were a country, Florida would boast the 17th-largest economy in the world. We are fortunate to have some of the greatest innovators in all sectors of our state’s economy — from education to manufacturing, health care and technology, among others,” wrote Denor.
