RMH Cancer Care NOW OPEN – a partnership between Ransom Memorial Hospital and Lawrence Memorial Hospital – to have a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony February 16, 2016.
Ransom Memorial Hospital (RMH) and Lawrence Memorial Hospital are partnering to open RMH Cancer Care in Ottawa to further meet the cancer care needs of Franklin County.
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Matthew Stein as a Hematology/Medical Oncology provider. Precision Cancer Care (Dr. Shalina Gupta-Burt and Dr. Ajay Tejwani) will continue to provide advanced radiation therapy technology.
RMH Cancer Care is located at 1301 S. Main Street, Ottawa, KS. To celebrate the opening of RMH Cancer Care, the community is invited to attend an Open House Event on February 16, 2016, at 8:00 am.
“Local access to quality care is important and RMH Cancer Care is another example of our commitment to meeting the community’s expectations and provide safe, patient-centered care”, said RMH Board Chair Wayne Duderstadt when expansion of the Oncology service line was approved.
A cancer diagnosis can be life changing. Local cancer care will provide new patients to be seen quickly, helping them understand the disease and their treatment options. Our goal is to provide comprehensive cancer care with specially trained physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals. We support this goal with medical and radiation oncology, hematology, pulmonary medicine, surgical intervention, advanced diagnostic imaging, laboratory and pharmacy services. We are integrating the latest technologies and therapeutic capabilities in a professional, caring setting.
“We strive to provide quality care close to home that has a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosing and treating cancer,” said Stacy Steiner, RMH Chief Nursing Officer.
“As healthcare continues to evolve, RMH will strive to provide access to quality care with an emphasis on the overall patient experience,” said Matt Heyn, Chief Executive Officer. “Our future goal is to provide infusion treatments in our community so that patients don’t need to travel for cancer care.”
“There is a vital need for cancer care to be individualized to fit the needs of each patient. The process of evaluation, management, and coordination of cancer care can be overwhelming to patients and their families. The program design here at RMH Cancer Care will streamline this process while providing a multidisciplinary collaborative approach with expertise close to home. This is an exciting time for the community; there is a shared commitment from all of the medical providers, Ransom Memorial Hospital and Lawrence Memorial Hospital leadership to provide outstanding state of the art oncology care,” said Dr. Shalina Gupta-Burt.
Lawrence Memorial Hospital President and Chief Executive Officer Gene Meyer said, “Lawrence Memorial Hospital is committed to offering high quality cancer care close to home. Our Oncology Center physicians and staff welcome the opportunity to collaborate with Ransom Memorial Hospital to improve access for cancer patients in the Ottawa community.”
