NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla., April 8, 2016 The community joined in celebration for a special ribbon cutting event for the newest facility to join the Florida Hospital family: Florida Hospital New Smyrna.
On April 1, Bert Fish Medical Center and Adventist Health System officials signed and closed on the agreement that allows Adventist Health System, which also owns and operates Florida Hospital, to acquire Bert Fish Medical Center. At this time, Bert Fish Medical Center was renamed Florida Hospital New Smyrna and joined the East Florida Region of Adventist Health System, which includes Florida Hospital DeLand in DeLand, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City, Florida Hospital Flagler in Palm Coast, Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach, and Florida Hospital Oceanside in Ormond Beach.
On April 7, Adventist Health System announced that Ken Mattison, CEO for Florida Hospital Flagler, was appointed CEO of Florida Hospital New Smyrna. He will serve in a dual role until May 1, when Dr. Ronald Jimenez becomes CEO for Florida Hospital Flagler.
