Shawnee Mission Health (SMH), Park Place and Raised with Love and Limits have teamed up to hold a special children's concert for families on Wednesday, June 1. Held from 5-8 p.m., the concerts theme, RALLY for Kids, represents the mission and name of the new Kansas City non-profit organization, Raised with Love and Limits.
The evening will feature performances by the popular bands Peanut Butter Hamster and The Rockin' Rob Show. Other children's entertainment includes balloon artists, face painters and a magic show.
SMH will host a mini hospital station where kids can get fun bandages while parents have the chance to ask a pediatrician health questions.
A special parenting component, Parenting to Go, will be provided by SMH's Living in Vitality program. Parents will receive a complimentary Parenting to Go gift bag including a copy of the new book, Discipline with Love and Limits, written by Raised with Love and Limits founders Barbara C. Unell and Dr. Jerry Wyckoff. The book was just named to a Top Ten list of Best Parenting Books by Brain, Child Magazine. Contents of the gift bag also include special family offers from participating Park Place merchants and healthy gift items from Shawnee Mission Health. Supplies are limited. The authors will be available to autograph books and answer parenting questions.
The concert kicks off Park Places annual summer concert series, Summer Sounds in the Park, which continues every Wednesday in June and July. The center, featuring one-of-a-kind boutiques and restaurants, is located at 117th Street and Nall Avenue in Leawood, KS. Concerts are staged in Barkley Square, a community green space featuring year-round activities.
SMH is sponsoring the event through its new LIV: Living in Vitality brand which seeks to help Kansas City women live healthier lives physically, mentally and spiritually through an annual conference, wellness events, activities and more.
Raised with Love and Limits is the new nonprofit organization that supports every parent through positive, evidence-based parenting skill-building that fosters children's optimum mental and physical health and lowers the risk of adverse childhood experiences.
