With this approach, many heart disorders can be treated without ever needing open heart surgery, with far less risk of complications. Our Hybrid Catheterization Laboratory was built using the most advanced technology available, providing the safest environment for our patients to have their procedures. The catheterization laboratory was built as a hybrid surgical suite, which allows for surgery to be the backup approach for complex cases where a surgical intervention may be needed to complement the catheter approach.
This arrangement allows us to coordinate other necessary procedures such as bronchoscopy and other minor surgical interventions with cardiac catheterization, avoiding a separate anesthesia exposure for our patients. As the field of pediatric cardiology advances to offer more catheter-based options for our congenital heart patients, we are prepared to act as a leader in the advancement of pediatric interventional cardiology.
