Adventist Health System has long championed innovation and the use of technology to enhance the delivery of patient care across the continuum. As a result of this systemwide emphasis, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) has issued validations to five more Adventist Health System hospitals for achieving HIMSS Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM) Stage 7 status.'
Earning the HIMSS Stage 7 validation is a remarkable achievement accomplished by only a fraction of hospitals across the country, and I am proud of our hospitals for their efforts to implement technology in ways that allow us to provide safer and more efficient care,' said Kathleen Clem, MD, executive vice president and chief clinical officer for Adventist Health System.
The stage 7 designation is the highest level of achievement on the EMRAM, and signifies that the hospitals are advanced electronic patient record environments. Adventist Health System's latest EMRAM Stage 7 hospitals are Central Texas Medical Center, Florida Hospital DeLand, Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel and Shawnee Mission Medical Center. These hospitals join Florida Hospital Carrollwood, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, Florida Hospital Flagler, Florida Hospital North Pinellas, Florida Hospital Waterman, Manchester Memorial Hospital, Metroplex Adventist Hospital and Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South on the prestigious list.
The EMRAM incorporates methodology and algorithms to automatically score hospitals around the world relative to their electronic medical records capabilities. Adventist Health System's rate of achievement on the model far outpaces national averages, with 43 percent of its hospitals currently at Stage 7. Comparatively, according to the latest available data, just over six percent of hospitals nationwide have reached the highest level.
