- Fouad Hajjar, MD
As a member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), we offer patients the choice of participation in cooperative, group clinical trials. This opportunity gives patients and their families the potential of receiving cutting-edge therapies not otherwise available.
Our team consists of three, board-certified pediatric hematologists and oncologists, and four, advanced registered-nurse practitioners experienced in pediatric hematology and oncology. Our physicians are trained at Yale University, Duke University and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Team members include Dennis Borrero, MD — a native of Puerto Rico and fluent in Spanish — and Heather Allewelt, MD — an expert in pediatric bone-marrow transplantation.
We care for all types of childhood cancer and hematological diseases including leukemia, brain tumors, anemia and bleeding disorders. We are very proud to have been named one of only three Children’s Tumor Foundation-funded comprehensive neurofibromatosis clinics in the state of Florida. Through this clinic we give integrated care not only to children with neurofibromatosis, but their adult family members as well.
