Adventist Health System, a faith-based non-profit health care organization and the parent company of Florida Hospital, today announced that it has finalized an agreement with subsidiaries of Community Health Systems, Inc. that officially brings Bayfront Health Dade City into its system. The agreement includes the 120-bed Bayfront Health Dade City hospital as well as its physician clinic operations and outpatient services.
'Our organization is growing, and we are excited about the opportunity to deliver Christ-centered, wholistic care to those in Dade City and the surrounding areas,' said Terry Shaw, president/CEO for Adventist Health System. 'We strive to make the communities we serve better and healthier, and we look forward to the impact our mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ will have in this community.'
Effective April 1, 2018, Bayfront Health Dade City was renamed Florida Hospital Dade City, and joined Adventist Health System's West Florida Division, which also includes Florida Hospital Carrollwood, Florida Hospital at Connerton Long Term Acute Care, Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center Lake Placid, Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center Sebring, Florida Hospital North Pinellas, Florida Hospital Tampa, Florida Hospital Wauchula, Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel and Florida Hospital Zephyrhills.
In addition, the health system has named Jason Newmyer to the position of administrator for the newly named Florida Hospital Dade City and vice president of nearby Florida Hospital Zephyrhills. Newmyer will oversee strategic development and operations at the hospital.
Newmyer previously served as assistant vice president of specialty service lines for Florida Hospital Tampa. He was instrumental in the development of the hospital's Digestive Health Institute, Orthopedic Institute and its Brain and Spine Institute. He also played a key role in forming the recent partnership between Florida Hospital and Walgreens, which added 15 retail health care clinic locations in the greater Tampa Bay region. Prior to that, he held several progressive leadership roles with the organization.
'It is my honor to serve this hospital as we advance whole-person health care in Dade City,' said Newmyer. 'I look forward to working with our hospital leaders, physicians, team members and community to provide exceptional care.'
Bayfront Health Dade City, now Florida Hospital Dade City, is an acute care hospital, designated as a primary stroke care center, with 150 physicians representing 27 medical specialties, including bariatrics, cardiology, emergency services, gynecology, neurology, surgery and urology.
With the addition of Bayfront Health Dade City, Adventist Health System now has 27 hospital campuses in the state of Florida.
