AdventHealth Hendersonville has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Total Ankle Replacement, Total Hip Replacement, Total Knee Replacement and Total Shoulder Replacement Centers of Excellence. The Gold Seal of Approval is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.
The orthopedic program team from AdventHealth Hendersonville participated in a rigorous on-site review in January. Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with national specific care standards as well as with orthopedic-specific requirements. Clinical practice guidelines and performance measures also were assessed.
AdventHealth Hendersonville is it the first hospital in Western North Carolina to achieve this distinction for Total Hip Replacement and Total Knee Replacement. It is the first in North Carolina to earn the Total Shoulder Replacement distinction and the first in the Southeast to receive the Total Ankle Replacement distinction.

Leading the way in firsts, in 2017, AdventHealth Hendersonville, then Park Ridge Health, became the first in Western North Carolina to earn the Spine Center of Excellence certification. The orthopedic program has also become the first to offer innovative technology to enhance surgical precision and allow patients to experience faster, more effective recoveries for many surgical procedures.
