The AdventHealth West Florida Division plans to open two new off-site emergency rooms in Hillsborough County. The new ERs will provide more access to health care services in the growing communities of Brandon and Westchase.
Construction began earlier this year on a 19,000 square-foot, 18-bed facility that will be located at 305 E. Brandon Boulevard in Brandon, Florida. Additionally, crews recently started construction on a 14,300 square-foot, 12-bed facility located at 10977 Sheldon Road in Tampa, Florida.
Both locations are full-service ERs, and will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for patients and EMS paramedic teams. The emergency rooms will be staffed with board-certified emergency medicine physicians as well as nurses who specialize in emergency care for adults and children. Both ERs will also offer state-of-the-art, on-site diagnostic imaging services including x-ray, ultrasound, CT scans and on-site laboratory services so patients can receive real-time results, enabling better diagnosis and treatment.
“We are committed to make health care easy and convenient by expanding access points for consumers. As these communities continue to grow, the need for more emergent care is in demand,” said Mike Schultz, president and CEO for the AdventHealth West Florida Division. “We’ve put together a very aggressive growth plan to meet the needs of our communities and provide the high-quality health care people need, when and where they need it the most.”
Both emergency departments are slated to open early 2020. The construction and opening of the ERs is expected to provide more than 100 jobs in Hillsborough County.
The AdventHealth West Florida Division previously opened two off-site emergency departments, with AdventHealth Palm Harbor ER in Pinellas County opening in 2017 and Central Pasco ER in Pasco County opening in 2018.
AdventHealth Ocala also operates an off-site ER in Marion County.
