Matthew W Johnston, DO

Growing up in South Florida introduced Matthew Johnston, MD, to a variety of athletic activities, and a wide array of injuries that can result from participating in competitive sports. Sustaining impacts as a football player for both his high school and college teams imparted a firsthand understanding of how sports injuries can sideline athletes, and how proper care can positively impact the healing process.

These experiences were fundamental in his decision to pursue a career as an orthopaedic surgeon; today, he brings his passion for both sports and medicine to Florida Hospital Kissimmee. Dr. Johnston has a profound understanding of the importance in communication and taking the time to really listen to his patients. With specialized focus on total hip, knee and shoulder replacements, ACL repair and bone fractures, Dr. Johnston utilizes his expertise to help patients from all walks of life.

In 2010, Dr. Johnston completed fellowship training in arthroscopic sports medicine and adult hip and knee arthroplasty and reconstruction. And because of his orthopaedic experience, Dr. Johnston is also a valued member of the University of Central Florida’s teaching staff—training tomorrow’s doctors in the very techniques he uses within his own practice.
