HENDERSONVILLE, NC, Jan. 15, 2025 – AdventHealth is excited to welcome Timothy Custer, MD, FACS, to its team at AdventHealth Medical Group Surgery Specialists at Hendersonville*. Dr. Custer is a general surgeon who is board-certified in surgery and has more than 25 years of experience offering compassionate, expert surgical care.

Dr. Custer earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Grace College in Winona Lake, IN, and his Doctor of Medicine degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. He then completed his General Surgery Residency at Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, OH.

Dr. Custer was drawn to AdventHealth Hendersonville because of their commitment to extend the healing ministry of Christ. This reflects his own philosophy of care which is to exemplify Christ in all aspects of life. Dr. Custer offers patient-centered care, rooted in faith and principles that guide his interactions and care with every patient, every time.

“I have spent many years devoting my life to General Surgery,” Dr. Custer shares. “When I care for a patient, they can be assured that they will have my full attention. I will treat them with respect and compassion and provide them the best care I know how.”

Dr. Custer is dedicated to pursuing excellence and putting his patients and their wishes first. He is detail-oriented, focused and efficient with his procedures. And he believes in providing his patients with whole-person care - body, mind and spirit. He clearly communicates with them throughout the process, so they are engaged and informed in their individualized care plan.

“I believe that in surgical care we need to focus on the simplest and most effective plan for our patients,” Dr. Custer says. “Our focus needs to be primarily on their well-being and providing the best pathway to a good outcome.” Dr. Custer is looking forward to joining the team at AdventHealth Hendersonville and expanding surgical and specialty care in Western North Carolina.

Dr. Custer and his wife are excited to move to Western North Carolina and explore all the outdoor activities the mountains have to offer. They are blessed with three adult children, and enjoy vacations to the Outer Banks, and hiking the mountains of Yellowstone, the Adirondacks, and the Smokies.
