The Baby Place at AdventHealth Hendersonville welcomes the first baby of 2025

HENDERSONVILLE, NC, January 1, 2025 – The Baby Place at AdventHealth Hendersonville is delighted to announce the arrival of the first baby of 2025. Born at 12:18 pm, this precious baby boy marks a wonderful start to the new year.

This is the first baby for the proud parents, Amariah Davis and Johnny Jennings. They are overjoyed to welcome their new addition, James Charles Jennings. The family lives in Fletcher and specifically chose AdventHealth for their delivery because of the exceptional care Amariah had received in the past. "AdventHealth has been such an amazing place for me.” Amariah explained. “I've come her for the last couple years. And every time I'm here I'm treated with the utmost respect and best care. When I first found out I was pregnant for a solid two weeks I was trying to find an OB that was associated with AdventHealth just so I could deliver here. I love this place. It's amazing here."

Amariah and Johnny had been eagerly anticipating James's arrival on his due date of January 10, but baby James had other plans. They named James after Amariah’s Papaw who passed away in 2024. "I hope he is able to live the kind of life my Papaw lived, surrounded by loved ones, and that he is a strong hardworking man. He's going to succeed in life. I'm going to make sure of that."

The delivery was overseen by one of the OB hospitalists at AdventHealth, Dr. Leis, along with labor and delivery nurses Susan Isler and Asha Oakes.

The OB hospitalists program at AdventHealth is a vital part of The Baby Place's commitment to providing exceptional care for expectant mothers. This program ensures that there is always an experienced obstetrician available 24/7 to handle any emergencies or complications that may arise during labor and delivery. In Amariah's case, her regular doctor was out of town, but thanks to the OB hospitalists program, Dr. Leis was on duty and able to step in to care for Amariah throughout her labor and delivery. This comprehensive approach to care was critical in managing the situation when James was born with the umbilical cord around his neck which was causing his heart rate to drop. The expertise and readiness of the OB hospitalist, combined with the support of the skilled nurses, ensured that James arrived safely and that both mother and baby received the best possible care. Amariah is thankful the team was ready to help, “The hospitalist did amazing. She was very kind; she did a great job. She delivered my baby safely, and he's healthy even with the scary moment with the cord around his neck."

The Baby Place at AdventHealth Hendersonville offers a comprehensive range of services for expectant mothers, including personalized birth plans, state-of-the-art labor and delivery rooms, and a team of experienced obstetricians and nurses dedicated to providing compassionate care.
