SANFORD, Fla., Dec. 3, 2016 Christmas came early for dozens of AdventHealth for Children cancer patients today during the Flight to the North Pole event.

Held at Orlando Sanford International Airport, it was a day of festivities for cancer patients and their families. The highlight of the day was a plane ride provided by Allegiant Air around the tarmac and to the North Pole Village hangar, where the kids visited with Santa Claus and received gifts from their very own holiday wish lists.

According to Allegiant COO Jude Bricker, We and our team members are proud to participate in this opportunity to give back to the community.

Estella Bass was overjoyed to see her daughter, Charlotte, have such a wonderful time.

We had a rough several months this year. Having the bone marrow transplant and the recover was especially hard on her, said Bass. Kids are very resilient, but ultimately they struggle through it just like anybody. So to have her be happy and smiling and be able to participate is just wonderful for us.

The children’s gifts were made possible through community contributions. Orlando Sanford International Airport (including numerous Airport tenants, partners and associates), Million Air Orlando FBO, Chick-fil-A Central Florida, Z88.3 FM, Christmas Dreams and Glickman Productions also supported the event.

These brave children have experienced so much, and this is a wonderful opportunity to allow them to be kids and take their minds off their treatment. said Dr. David Shook, medical director of the hospitals Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Program. So many people came together to make this happen, and I’m incredibly thankful to all our partners. The day wouldn’t have been possible without them.
