Catherine Longa, PhD, ABPP

As a pediatric neuropsychologist, Dr. Cathy Longa provides outpatient evaluations to assess cognitive development in children with complex medical histories. She works to help doctors and families better understand a child's abilities and how illness or injury affects development. With extensive experience assessing children with a wide range of congenital and acquired conditions that affect the brain, Dr. Longa works closely with various medical teams at AdventHealth for Children, including those focused on pediatric cancer and brain tumors, neurofibromatosis and other genetic syndromes, epilepsy and seizure disorders, and children being evaluated for organ transplant.

Dr. Longa's approach centers around understanding the whole child, taking into account how a child's medical and developmental history affects their daily functioning. She has a particular interest in developing efficient and developmentally appropriate evaluation processes that reveal a child's unique pattern of strengths and challenges. Moreover, Dr. Longa communicates results in a clear and understandable way, ensuring that parents and caregivers understand the findings and next steps. Her ultimate goal is to support families in helping each child succeed to the best of their ability.

Dr. Longa earned her doctoral degree from the University of Miami and completed an internship focused on pediatric psychology and neuropsychology at CHOC Children's Hospital. She then completed a specialized fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology at the University of Miami's Mailman Center for Child Development. Board-certified in clinical neuropsychology and a board-certified subspecialist in pediatric neuropsychology, Dr. Longa is committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to every child she evaluates.
