Barbara VanDersarl Slocum, CNM, WHNP-BC

Barbara VanDersarl Slocum, MSN, CNM, WHNP, oversees the full scope of women’s health. She is a dedicated and compassionate midwife with extensive experience in caring for women throughout all stages of their lives. Barbara helps her patients with the following conditions: women's wellness exam, annual exam, birth control, STI testing and treatment, infertility, preconception care, prenatal care, delivery, postpartum care, menopause, hormone replacement therapy, and weight loss. She is a surgical first assist for cesarean section, hysterectomy, laparoscopy, laparotomy and is qualified to perform IUD insertion and removal, Nexplanon insertion and removal, Level 1 Ultrasound, colposcopies, and pellet placement. Barbara strives to create a safe and supportive environment where women feel heard, respected, and cared for.

Barbara achieved her Masters of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University and her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Nursing from the Catholic University of America. Before heading to nursing school, she obtained a BS in Biology from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame.

When she’s not helping women live their best life, Barbara loves spending time with her own family. You may spot her on the sidelines of local sports fields cheering on her kids. Barbara enjoys fishing, reading, and exploring new places.

Barbara is a committed patient advocate with a strong focus on informed decision-making, empowerment, and culturally sensitive care. She recognizes the importance of fostering trusting relationships with patients and families to ensure their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being throughout their healthcare experience.
