    Leaking Blood Can Cause Congestive Heart Failure

    When blood pumps through the heart, it moves oxygen from one chamber to the next. Flaps of tissue (leaflets) act as doors between each chamber to prevent oxygenated blood from moving backward. If you have mitral regurgitation, the leaflets aren’t properly sealed and blood leaks out causing serious problems.

    The MitraClip® is implanted through a needle puncture in your skin. A catheter guides it through your heart and attaches it to the leaflets. This closes the valves, keeps you out of the hospital, decreases your risk of heart failure and reduces leaking.
