ORLANDO, Fla., -- Residents of the West Lakes community in Orlando will soon have a resource for community wellbeing in the neighborhood. Lift Orlando recently hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebration for its Heart of West Lakes Wellness Center.
The $13.5 million, 30,000-square-foot health and wellness hub will offer a range of health care services, including family medicine, pediatrics, behavioral health and more. Additionally, the center will offer financial and business resources, health and wellness classes, healthy food option and gathering places.
“This is something that’s been in the making for years. Almost seven years ago, one of our partners at AdventHealth had a vision about creating a space for our residents, and this is the vision to reality,” Terry Prather, senior advisor of Lift Orlando, told WESH 2 News.
The wellness center project is a collaboration between AdventHealth, Orlando Health, Florida Blue and Lift Orlando.
The Heart of West Lakes Wellness Center is the cornerstone of the $100 million West Lakes Community Campus envisioned by Lift Orlando to reverse the decades of disinvestment in the area. The center will serve as an economic engine for the community and create approximately 40 full-time jobs.
The center is located at 710 South Tampa Ave., in Orlando and it will open its doors to the community in the spring.
